Many come to see the city’s iconic moving walkway immortalised in Wong Kar Wai’s Chungking Express, where Faye Wong once drifted through frames of urban daydream.
Yet it’s so easy to miss out the charm surrounding the Mid-Levels Escalator.
Near one of the elevated footbridges, you might spot a small balcony garden lovingly tended by residents living above the shops. This refreshing greenery is a pocket of serenity hidden in plain sight and the hum of Central Station.
The city reveals its softer side only when you slow down to look.
Isn’t that kind of like so many parts of Hong Kong?
