Nestled among the misty peaks of Alishan, this little red pavilion stands quietly overlooking the rolling sea of clouds.
Sitting near the Sacred Tree train station, where some of Alishan’s most majestic and centuries-old Taiwan cypress trees still stand tall, this resting spot was dedicated to Mr Sun Yat-Sen, also revered as Taiwan’s “Father of the Nation”.
Sun’s legacy stretches far beyond Taiwan. During his years of revolution, he found crucial support among overseas Chinese communities, especially in Singapore. There, he orchestrated a regional network of overseas supporters for his revolutionary ideas.
Visiting the pavilion today, surrounded by towering cypress forests and swirling mountain fog, one can almost feel the quiet strength and vision that fueled Sun’s dream.
